International Women’s Tennis comes to Gurugram with HCL ITF W15 Tournament

  • 60 elite athletes from across the globe to compete for prestigious WTA world-ranking points at The Tennis Project, Gurugram
  • International tournament reinforces HCL’s commitment to building a robust high-performance sports ecosystem in India

Gurugram, February 20, 2026: Following its successful initiatives in cycling, squash, and bridge, HCL Group, today announced the commencement of the HCL ITF W15 Tennis Tournament. Scheduled from February 23 to March 1 at The Tennis Project, Gurugram, the tournament will bring together 60 world-class players competing for crucial WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) world-ranking points and a total prize purse of USD 15,000.

HCL’s previous involvement in tennis (2014–2018) focused on building a grassroots foundation through the HCL Junior Tour and Masters. By partnering with AITA and MBTA and organising inter-school events, HCL focused on providing them with professional tournament experience and international exposure to strengthen the future of Indian tennis. The tournament provides an important platform for emerging Indian and international talent and features a highly competitive field. Thailand’s Anchisa Chanta (WTA Ranking 440) enters as the top seed, while India’s challenge is led by Zeel Desai (WTA Ranking 639), who is seeded fifth. With five Indian players securing direct entry into the main draw and four receiving wild cards in singles, and three pairs in doubles for the main draw. The event offers domestic players a valuable opportunity to strengthen their global rankings on home soil.

The tournament is led by Vishal Uppal, Captain of the Indian Billie Jean King Cup Team and one of India’s most respected tennis mentors, widely recognised for his dedication to the sport’s development.

The HCL ITF W15 tournament is a part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour which provides pathways for players to earn WTA ranking points and progress in professional tennis. It’s vision is to elevate the level of women’s tennis in India and give Indian players better exposure.
