Global Investors Meet: HCL to invest $ I billion in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: HCL will invest $1 billion in the next five years to set up new units in Madurai and Tirunelveli.

Speaking at the Global Investors Meet, HCL founder Shiv NadarĀ  said the company would set two more development centres in Madurai and Tirunelveli apart from the existing centres at Coimbatore and Chennai.

“I am familiar with the intelligence of Tamil Nadu as I come from here. Chennai is a brain centre. I spent lot of time in Pandya Nadu (Madurai) and a new centre will be opened in Madurai and Tirunelveli,” he said.

In the coming years, we plan to take 20,000 students from Tamil Nadu into HCL. He also appraised the working of the engineering college SSN in Chennai. “HCL will shortly venture into robotics and our college has tie-up with Carnegie Foundation,” said Nadar.
